A lot of people are talking about us right now, so we figured it was time we introduced ourselves properly.
Hey. We're UpScrolled.
We're a digital platform built on a simple belief: people deserve a digital space that is committed to protecting freedom of expression. A place to share thoughts, opinions and life's moments without powerful agendas deciding what gets heard or seen.
Radical? No. Deserved? Absolutely.
We didn't start with millions in the bank or a full team, and we certainly don't have a decade of infrastructure behind us. UpScrolled was built by Issam Hijazi, one person with a big dream. A Palestinian-Jordanian-Australian technologist who spent 15 years in Big Tech and saw his own community’s voice silenced on the world’s largest platforms. So he decided to build something better. A place where censorship isn’t an option.
The truth is, Issam wasn't alone in that experience. Across the globe, frustration with Big Tech has been building for years. But when the ground shifted beneath social media earlier this year, millions went searching for a new place to land and found it here.
And what are the millions doing on UpScrolled since they joined? Creators of every kind are building communities entirely on their own terms. Artists showing off handmade Mardi Gras costumes and beads, candidates running for the United States Congress, musicians posting original music, and chefs celebrating the start of Ramadan.
Today, UpScrolled is nearing five million strong, and we don't take a single one of our UpScrollers for granted. That's why we're heads down making improvements to the platform rather than pouring time and money into growth campaigns. You showed up for us. We intend to show up for you.
We know the road ahead won't be easy. We’re a small platform taking a stand against a very big status quo and we are continuously improving. But we know exactly who we are, why we exist and how strong this community is.
UpScrolled. Nice to meet you.
